Alex Quenneville

Master Alex started his martial arts journey at age 6 when his mother enrolled him in an after-school Kuk Sool Hapkido program. He later moved to Canada, where he trained under Chief Master Ivan Bergeron and won several Grand Championships in regional Sport Karate competitions. He spent his summers at the Korean Martial Arts Centre (Canada) headquarters, helping refine the curriculum and promoting Hapkido’s growth.

After moving to California, Alex attended San Jose State University and earned a Bachelor’s in Finance. He built a successful career in banking while raising a family, never stopping his training. Along the way, he collaborated with Masters across the country to grow their schools and promote Hapkido. He was a member of the USH Fight Team and holds a kickboxing record of 11–3.

In 2024, Master Alex and KMAC traveled to South Korea for the Hanminjok Hapkido World Championships. He came out of retirement to compete in the Master Class division and won against 14 Masters from around the world.

In 2025, he was appointed Co-Director of Digital Strategies and Operations for the World Kido Federation. KMAC’s curriculum is certified by both the World Kido Federation and the Hanminjok Hapkido Association, recognized by the Korean government. Every rank earned at KMAC is registered with both organizations.

KMAC Lineage

Korean Martial Arts Center’s lineage reaches back to the founding of Kuk Sool Hapkido by Grandmaster In Sun Seo and his brother. Grandmaster In Sun Seo was selected to represent the art in a nationally televised performance for the Korean government, helping bring Kuk Sool Hapkido to prominence in Korea and abroad. Today, he serves as Chairman of the World Kido Federation, continuing to preserve and promote the traditional art.

Grandmaster In Shuk Pak was among the first Masters to carry Kuk Sool Hapkido beyond Korea. He traveled from Germany to Canada, teaching and training practitioners throughout North America. His first student upon arriving in Canada was Chief Master Ivan Bergeron, a pioneer of martial arts in Canada. He has studied Hapkido for more than 60 years and played an important role in bringing practitioners together throughout Ontario. Master Alex has trained directly under Chief Master Ivan since 1989, continuing that relationship through regular training and visits.

Grandmaster Steve Seo, youngest son of Chairman Seo, was appointed President of the World Kido Federation in 2024. Today, he continues to preserve the traditional methods of Kuk Sool Hapkido while expanding the art through modern technology. Master Alex has been a member of the World Kido Federation for nearly a decade and is now a direct student of Grandmaster Steve.

From Korea, to Canada, to Chino Hills, this is more than a history. It is a living lineage that continues through each generation of students.
